City Forest Credits is holding a public comment period for updates to the City Forest Credits Afforestation and Reforestation Protocol Version 12.
The purpose of the proposed revisions is to increase clarity and ensure that the Protocol is in line with the latest available science and international best practice. The public comment period runs from March 5, 2024 to April 5, 2024.

Updates to Afforestation Protocol Version 12
- Clarifications on Location Eligibility
- Clarification that clearing invasive species for replanting is allowed
- Clarification on requirements for use of the Performance Standard Baseline, to demonstrate local relevance and applicability
- Revision to additionality requirements to clarify financial additionality and common practice analysis
- Updates to spacing requirements for Single Tree and Clustered Planting Designs
- Clarification of requirements for establishing baseline for Clustered Planting Design projects
- Revision to the top-line uncertainty deduction for the Clustered Planting Design
- Updates to Validation and Verification Body Accreditation Requirements, consistent with Article 6.4 of the UNCCC Paris Agreement.
